Become a JFCIA Reviewer!

Reviewers are currently sought by the Journal of Festival Culture Inquiry and Analysis to carry out double-blind reviews. You will be aware that we are a newly created journal and as such, we aim to start our journey on a positive and strong foundation. We aim to publish serious submissions that foreground inquiry on festival and celebratory culture that would not necessarily fall under festival culture because of its inter-, multi-, trans- or cross-disciplinary dimension.

JFCIA aims to include (but is not limited to):

  • Create knowledge and contribute to the academic literature by publishing high-quality research on festivals and celebratory culture.

  • Provide a platform for inquiry and intellectual discourse that supports and benefits those within the field (researchers, enthusiasts, practitioners, etc.).

Eligibility and Experience

  • Strong attention to detail is crucial.

  • We are looking for reviewers with an academic qualitative and/or quantitative background.

  • An interest in (but not limited to) culture, art, education, history, geography, and literature.

  • Previous publishing experience is desirable (your CV must include publishing details, and 2 references attesting to your proficiency and competence).

  • Strong language and communication skills with an eye for detail are desirable.

Reviewer Benefits

  • Although there is no financial compensation we consider this to be an opportunity to become involved in a journal that focuses on the impact of culture and education in an effort to share and advance the study of festivals and celebrations.

  • With this in mind, during the year you serve as a reviewer (one-year renewable) you can download a free copy of all the articles published.

  • Additionally, you will be added to our editorial board, and you are welcome to attend all our events (online, physical, or hybrid).

Please be aware that papers may explore festivals quite broadly or perhaps from an inter-, multi-, cross-, and trans-disciplinary perspective. Festival arts and culture are examined from an array of perspectives. These perspectives include art, craft, design, literature, fashion, globalization, tourism, business, entrepreneurship, history, race, identity, heritage, food, medieval cultures, performances, and religion.
